Repair Terms & Conditions
By booking a repair with Modbits Ltd, you agree to the following terms:
1. Diagnostics and estimates
All devices are assessed before repair. Any quote or repair recommendation is based on the fault identified during diagnosis. In some cases, further faults may only become apparent once work has started or after partial disassembly.
2. Repair approval
No major repair work will be carried out until approval has been given. If you choose not to proceed after diagnosis, a diagnostic fee may still apply depending on the work involved in testing and assessment.
3. Data responsibility
Customers are responsible for backing up their data before submitting any device for repair. While every effort is made to protect customer data, Modbits Ltd accepts no responsibility for data loss, corruption, or inaccessible data during diagnosis, repair, testing, software work, or parts replacement.
4. Parts and hidden faults
Some repairs may require replacement parts, partial repair work, or further testing before a full diagnosis can be completed. In cases involving liquid damage, power faults, board-level faults, or physically damaged devices, successful diagnosis or repair cannot be guaranteed.
5. Repair outcomes
A repair attempt does not guarantee a successful repair. Some faults may be uneconomical, irreversible, or may reveal additional issues during the repair process. Where this happens, you will be informed before any further chargeable work is carried out.
6. Warranty
Any warranty offered applies only to the specific fault repaired or the part replaced, and does not cover unrelated faults, accidental damage, misuse, liquid damage after repair, software issues unless specifically included, or any work carried out by a third party after the device leaves Modbits Ltd.
7. Customer-supplied parts
If we fit customer-supplied parts, we cannot guarantee the quality, compatibility, or lifespan of those parts. Warranty, if any, will apply to workmanship only and not to the customer-supplied component itself.
8. Payment
For mail-in repairs, the customer is responsible for shipping the device to Modbits Ltd. Once the device has been assessed, a quote will be provided. If the quote is accepted, the repair will be carried out and a final invoice will be issued, including the total repair cost and return postage. If the quote is declined, a diagnostic fee will apply along with the cost of return postage.
For walk-in repairs, payment is due upon collection unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For custom PC builds or other bespoke work, payment terms will be agreed separately before work begins.
9. Collection and storage
Once you have been informed that your device is ready for collection, repaired, not repairable, or awaiting a decision from you, it must be collected promptly. We may apply storage charges for devices left with us for an extended period without agreement.
10. Uncollected devices
If we do not hear from you, do not receive payment, or the device is not collected within 90 days of notifying you that it is ready for collection, diagnosed, or awaiting your decision, Modbits Ltd reserves the right to treat the device as abandoned. In such cases, the device may be recycled, disposed of, or otherwise handled at our discretion, and any data remaining on the device may be permanently destroyed. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before this happens.
11. Shipping and transit
If a device is posted or shipped to us, it must be packaged securely. Modbits Ltd is not responsible for damage caused by inadequate packaging or for delays caused by third-party couriers. Any shipping risk or compensation limit will depend on the shipping service selected.
12. Liability
Modbits Ltd will always aim to carry out work with reasonable care and skill, but liability is limited to the value of the repair service paid by the customer. We are not liable for indirect loss, loss of profits, loss of use, or loss of data.
